PSP VSH - OverClocking, UnderClocking, & Plugins

The VSH menu on the PSP is a special menu that gives you extra options and settings to customize your PSP. It's like a control center where you can change things like the speed of your PSP, how it connects to your computer, and even organize your games better. Think of it as a handy toolbox that helps you make your PSP work and look just the way you want it to.

Today you will learn 2 handy tricks with the VSH Menu, one is has to do with plugins, & the other can make your PSP fast OR save precious battery! ---------------------------------------------------------- Enabling or Disabling Plugins on the Sony PSP with CFW

  1. On the XMB Menu press the Select button which should bring up the VSH Menu which looks like an overlay on top of your XMB

  2. Scroll down with the D-Pad until you get to the option called "Recovery Manager" & when you get to it, go into it.

  3. You will see a black Menu with text options, Don't be scared, & Scroll down to the section where it says "Plugins" & go into it,

  4. Here you will see a list of plugins that you have INSTALLED on your psp, however they might or might not all be ACTIVE. Let's say you want to disable custom themes which is extension called "cxmb" so we scroll down to it to it with the D-Pad & when you scroll down to it, on the left side of the screen is the name of the plugin (cxmb in this case) and on the same row on the right side of the screen you will see either "Currently: Enabled" or "Currently: Disabled."

  5. When you're at the plugin you'd like to change, simply push RIGHT or LEFT on the D-Pad to change the option of it to whatever you'd like.

  6. Once you're done with step 5, you can go back, then back again, (You should be at the XMB (Home Screen) by now, if you're not, just find your way back home.

  7. You will once again need to press the Select Button to bring up the VHS Menu again and the one thing we need to do here is scroll down to the option to where it says "VSH Reset" which DOES NOT mean it is going to reset the VSH. This means more of like the system 'rereading' or reloading' the VSH so that it can load or unload your plugins.

  8. & thats a wrap. Congrats you now know how to Disable or Enable installed Plugins on PSP. ---------------------------------------------------------- Using the VSH menu to overclock or underclock your PSP can be beneficial for different reasons. Overclocking allows you to boost the CPU speed, resulting in better performance for more demanding games and applications. On the other hand, underclocking can conserve battery life, since it is not working hard, which is good for music & other non demanding tasks for the PSP so that it could last longer. Over Clocking or Under Clocking The Central Processing Unit, aka CPU 1. On the XMB Menu press the Select button which should bring up the VSH Menu which looks like an overlay on top of your XMB 2. RIGHT AWAY on the Menu the first two lines you will see CPU Clock XMB & CPU Clock GAME those are the options to over clock or under clock the CPU of the PSP. They may currently say 'Default.' 3. CPU Clock XMB will control the CPU Clock speed on the Home screen, CPU Clock GAME Controls the CPU Speed during a Game Session. 4. For this step lets assume you want to over clock your PSP so it can be F A S T E R during a game because your time is valuable. What we would need to do is once we are at CPU Clock GAME, with the D-Pad, Press Left, and you should be at 333/166. That is the fastest your PSP CPU can go, now scroll down to where it says "VSH Reset" & click on that option. This DOES NOT mean it is going to reset the VSH. This means more of like the system 'rereading' or reloading of the VSH 5. Now your PSP is over clocked & is now as powerful as a PS3 (just kidding) You will notice that battery life may go down faster than usual, it is because the CPU is working overtime, & to work overtime, just like in real life, we get paid more when we work overtime, so the PSP CPU has to be paid more battery juice to work overtime. 6. Now lets say you want to UNDER CLOCK your PSP CPU because you have an hour left on the bus but don't wanna be bored & its 2006 so there are no [modern] phones yet. Follow first steps as in Step 4. but instead of going to CPU Clock GAME, you go to CPU Clock XMB and press RIGHT on the D-Pad this should go to 133/66. That is the S L O W E S T your PSP CPU can go, now scroll down to where it says "VSH Reset" & click on that option. This DOES NOT mean it is going to reset the VSH. This means more of like the system 'rereading' or reloading of the VSH 7. Optional (Kinda) - When you are done having your system over or under clocked, repeat the steps again above to go back to the 'default' settings to bring your PSP back to the standard operational CPU equilibrium to Establish a state of harmonious serenity with in the system (very important!) & VIOLA! you can now make your PSP Faster or slower to save battery or demand more with overtime like a boss.

I often get asked how to add more game to the PSP & most people come to find out that it is relatively easy, after you downloaded the file, just add it to the iSO Folder that is already located on you
